Bahia Vista Ensemble Portia currently directs the Bahia Vista Ensemble at Bahia Vista Elementary in San Rafael, California. The ensemble meets for ten week sessions during the school year and focuses on helping students at Bahia Vista gain exposure to the soothing presence of music and the harp in particular. Classes meet after-school for one hour, once a week during each ten week session.
Mission Harp Ensemble Portia co-directed the Mission Harp Ensemble with Diana Stork. It was located at the Excelsior Neighborhood Clinic on Mission Blvd. in San Francisco. The primary goal of MHE was to expose underprivleged youth to music and the harp. Classes were held for one hour weekly during ten week sessions. Portia Diwa and Diana Stork offer "History of the Harp" and "History of the Latin Harp" educational outreach program for school-age children, and have brought this to places such as the Brandon School in Santa Barbara and the San Francisco Waldorf School. Portia also offers a special presentation on the "History of the Healing Harp." |
